Jonathan M. Sicora
Co-Owner / Performance Coach / Manual Therapist

Jonathan Sicora is a premier Strength Coach and has spent a lifetime dedicated to the science and art of strength and conditioning, blending a combination of technical talent and custom training routines to maximize his client’s athletic performance. He’s one of only a handful of trainers globally to reach the Poliquin Level 5 Master Strength Coach, a certification awarded jointly through the National Sport Governing Organization (NSGO) and International Olympic Committee (IOC) and reserved only for those coaches who have worked with an athlete that medals in the Olympic Games or World Championships for individual sports and/or coach an athlete who wins a distinguished award in the professional league (MVP, Norris (NHL), Cy Young (MLB)) for team sports.

Jonathan is a leading disciple of the Poliquin Group (PICP) training system and has since graduated to developing and training the next generation of global strength coaches through the educational program. The PICP method has been universally recognized as a pioneer in advanced strength and conditioning philosophies particularly focused on providing coaches and trainers with unsurpassed skills in teaching methodology, training techniques, assessments, and custom program design.

Since 2005, Jonathan has successfully trained a diverse set of clients with various strength and conditioning goals from weight loss to post rehabilitation and injury prevention. Most recently, his focus has been on sports performance for athletes from the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, Olympics, and World Championships, in addition to aspiring amateur athletes from the high school and collegiate levels. Through his unique scientific approach to strength and conditioning, tailoring each program to the individual player, Jonathan’s systems have helped his athletes reach maximum physical output while minimizing the likelihood of injury. The programs include expertise in short and long term program design, sports performance training, athletic development, speed and agility, energy system training, body composition training, fat loss, injury prevention, post rehabilitation, gymnastics, mobility, movement, and nutrition.

Born in Minnesota and grew up in Chicago, Jonathan Co-Founded SPEAR Training INC in 2015. Prior to that, he was an active multi-sport athlete winning an IHSA State Championship in gymnastics while also competing in hockey, football and wrestling.

Jonathan received his Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and Fitness at Western Illinois University in 2007 and continues to invest considerable time expanding his knowledge in the world of strength training by participating in seminars and internships hosted by the world’s top strength coaches and educators.

James Bose
Co-Owner / Performance Coach / Manual Therapist

Jim Bose is one of the most sought after Strength and Conditioning Coaches, as well as, Bodywork Specialist in the Midwest. His unique system of combining individualized strength training with mobility and recovery; have helped produce world-class athletes.

Jim is a native to Illinois. Born in Park Ridge and raised in Lincolnshire, he attended Adli E. Stevenson High School where he played baseball and football. He continued to play baseball at Cornell College, IA where he received his bachelors in Kinesiology. At Cornell, Jim was a standout on the varsity baseball team earning 4 letters, 2-time captain, and all-conference selection.

After college, Jim began working full time with athletes and clients. In 2010, he accepted a position as a Strength and Conditioning Coach with the Seattle Mariners in Professional Baseball. After spending the 2010 season with the Mariners, Jim was offered the same position with San Francisco Giants. He spent the next three years with the SF Giants winning the World Series in 2012. He left baseball after the 2013 season and returned to his hometown of Chicago.

Throughout his career, Jim has worked with a wide range of athletes and clients to help them achieve their health and fitness goals.  He has worked with professional athletes from the MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL and PGA along with may collegiate and high school level athletes. Jim designs his programs based off individual assessments and scientific data tailored to each athlete or client. This approach has helped his athletes and clients reach their fitness and athletic potential while diminishing the risks for any injuries. His focus on the individual athlete and their needs to perform at the highest level, have allowed Jim to create the best program for that client or athlete.

Throughout his career he as been continuously furthering his education by attending seminars and courses around the world. In 2014 he attended The Soma Institute of Clinical Massage Therapy in Chicago where he received his training and License in Clinical Massage Therapy. Recently, he has completed courses in Fascial Stretch Therapy, and is now a Level 3 Certified Fascial Stretch Specialist in both Fitness and Medical, as well as, a TA for the Stretch to Win Institute.  He continuously attends educational seminars and classes to further help provide the most advance training and bodywork principles.  This ensures his athletes and clients have the most optimal programming based off the latest education. He is passionate about enhancing the performance, increasing longevity and eliminating the pain of each client he meets and works with.

In 2014 Jim Founded SPEAR (Sports Performance Enhancement and Athletic Recovery). Shortly after he along with Jon Sicora and Jeff McCoy, opened SPEAR Training Center in Vernon Hills, IL. The facility is dedicated to the health, wellness, athletic development, and recovery of its clients and athletes.

Jeff McCoy
Co-Owner / Performance Coach

Jeff McCoy has established himself as a top strength coach and personal trainer in the fields of sports performance and fitness. Jeff has been involved in athletics his entire life playing basketball and football in high school. He was a West Virginia State Champion in basketball in 2001 and played Division I college football for the West Virginia Mountaineers 03-06 as a tight end appearing in 3 bowl games during his career there as well as being Big East Conference Champions 2 of those 3 seasons. His participation in team sports and training for his own performance gains throughout his life fostered a passion for strength and conditioning and how it parallels performance on the field of play.

After his college football career Jeff worked closely with the WVU Mountaineer strength staff as Head Intern for nearly 2 years gaining expertise from notable strength coach Mike Barwis and his staff. While there, Jeff helped program design and train athletes for football, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer, baseball, track, rowing, and wrestling while pursuing his Master’s degree in Athletic Coaching Education with an emphasis in strength and conditioning at WVU. Meanwhile, Jeff was also Director of Sports Performance at the HIT Center, a private training facility in Morgantown, WV where he headed the athletic development programs for local middle and high school athletes.

He has over 10 years of experience training athletes of all ages and skill levels as well as helping countless general population clients reach there health and fitness goals. Jeff takes pride in staying current and up to date on his education and applying new research methods into his training and program design so that his clients continue to see the results they desire.

Greyson Christian
Performance Coach / Jujitsu Instructor

Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Greyson is a lifelong athlete, playing baseball at the international level (based in Phoenix, Arizona) for most of his youth, until the age of 17 when he discovered the art of Jiu Jitsu. He immediately fell in love with both the physical and mental aspects as well as the benefits it could provide (due to being overweight in his younger years). At that time, he devoted his life to training, finishing high school by studying independently through the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and continuing his studies in the health and fitness, strength and conditioning, and nutritional fields.  Over the last several years, Greyson has trained with high-level coaches and athletes from all different backgrounds and specialties all across the country and from all over the world. He has competed all over the US, is an IBJJF World Championship quarter-finalist, currently competes in Jiu Jitsu professionally for organizations such as Wanderlust Grappling, Fight to Win Pro, and others. He has many years of teaching experience with children and adults, both male and female.

Having dealt with health issues and injuries in the past, Greyson began training with Jon, Jeff, and Jim in 2015 and has studied strength and conditioning, nutrition, and injury prevention principles extensively under their guidance ever since. Greyson recently received his Poliquin Group Level 2 Strength Coach certification in 2017 with intentions of furthering his knowledge by pursuing more advanced certifications in the future. Greyson prides himself in using his prior knowledge and experience in multiple sports, arts, and training methods to provide his students and clients with the best experience possible.
